About
TED vs TEDx: What’s the Difference?
In short: TEDxWorthing brings the spirit of TED to our seaside town, creating a space where local ideas can make a global impact.
TED and TEDx share the same mission - ideas change everything - but they’re not quite the same thing. TED is the global organisation based in the US. It hosts the world-famous annual TED Conference and produces TED Talks, TED-Ed, and other global platforms where world-leading thinkers share their ideas.
TEDx, on the other hand, is a programme of independently organised local events licensed by TED. Each event, like TEDxWorthing, is created by local voluntary organisers who follow TED’s values, structure, and brand guidelines, but curate talks that reflect their community’s voices, challenges, and creativity.

There are 2 major differences that audiences will experience between and TED and TEDx event:
1. TED Events
TED events are usually multi-day conferences with lots of interactive learning and networking built into the experience, which is hard to replicate for single-day TEDx events! official TED Conferences typically start at £5,000 for an early bird ticket.
2. TEDx Events
Whereas TEDx events are capped at £150 per ticket. TEDxWorthing charges £21-£50 for our tickets, making it as accessible for our community.

TEDxWorthing's Past
TEDxWorthingED
Different team, same vision
While TEDxWorthing is launching as a brand-new event, Worthing has a history of hosting thought-provoking TEDx experiences.
In 2014, TEDxWorthingED took place under the theme "REACH", focusing on education, growth, and opportunity. The event gathered educators, local leaders, and visionaries to explore how Worthing’s evolving educational landscape could help students, teachers, and the wider community reach their full potential.
Talks from the event covered personal development, learning methodologies, and the future of education, many of which remain relevant today.
TEDxWorthing builds on this legacy, expanding beyond education to showcase ideas that shape Worthing’s identity, inspire change, and connect with a global audience. As we embark on this new journey, we invite you to explore past TEDx talks and see how Worthing has already contributed to the TEDx movement.
